Speak_In_Vowels
okay so today i got in some tangiers f-line apple from stuie.so i decided to try it out, but i had a horrible experience with it.my coals kept going out, which is effin rediculous, because i was hitting it harder than a pimp hits his hoes.i use the japanese easylites which ive never had a single problem with.all i know is my coals kept going out so i kept re-lighting them, over and over again.eventually i lit them one last time and decided to keep a fan blowing on them constantly, hoping they would stay red hot.which didnt help at all, the tops were red hot but the bottoms would go out again, and again.id get flavor on one hit when id relight them then, all i could taste was smoke.i started to get sick because of all of the carbon i was breathing in.smoke was super thick, just no flavor.i tried everything from, changing the foil, to making the holes bigger, i acclimated it for about 8 hours and it smells great.so for the first time in a very long time i had a horrible session.any suggestions on why this happend? Codename067
You mentioned how bad the coals were throught the session so I will guess bad coal batch? As to flavor, did you let it acclimate it long enough until it started smelling good??

Speak_In_Vowels
could it be that im scraping off some off the silver shit before it wants to come off?because thats the only thing i can think of and i was kinda in a rush to try this flavor too.fuck if thats it im gonna kick my own ass!but itll save me from throwing away a potentially good half box of coals.im gonna try first thing in the morning. pigpen
Could be a moisture problem. Charcoal absorbs moisture. If the humidity is high (or higher than normal) your coals could be absorbing out of the atmosphere. They can be lit - but wont stay lit.Store them in an air tight container - just like your shisha. If you want to do an experiment - leave one coal out on a plate. After a week or so it will be bloated and fallling apart from the moisture. Stuie
Sorry about the session dude. Glad to know you got it alright! That's weird though. I tried Easy light japs for the first time last night, and they split in half on me... it was weird, use to coco's didn't expect them to light so quick.Do you have a windcover? I had to use one to get decent hit while smoking tangiers k cherry last night.

SuburbanSmoker
Ive had this problem with japanese coals before. seems ocne they are red hot the bottom goes out and the top stays lit. our solution was to just flip em over. little extra work but they keep going. And why did you scrape the silver stuff off? its there to help light the coal.
